I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am also a member of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in Private Practice (CAPPP). I have a Degree in Counselling with Distinction from the University of Plymouth and a Diploma of Higher Education in Mental Health Nursing from Middlesex University.

I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings in a wide variety of roles. My experience includes working with individuals and their families in counselling, health and voluntary organisations. Some of the areas in which I have experience include: abuse, addiction, disability, bereavement, mental health, relationship problems, anxiety, stress and depression, major life change and transitions and the day to day challenges facing families and individuals. Alongside working in private practice, I also work for a charity providing counselling in North Somerset.

My Background

I began my career in health over 25 years ago, working as a Mental Health Nurse in a community day hospital - working with patients (individually and in psycho-therapeutic groups) experiencing a wide variety of illness including Anxiety, Depression, Psychosis and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I went on to undertake a number of roles in areas including pharmaceuticals, service improvement and patient experience before returning to study and qualify as a counsellor.

Along the way I have also undertaken a number of additional courses and voluntary roles including for a local service for older adults and delivering positive parenting courses in the local community.

Areas of counselling I work with include:

Anxiety, depression and negative thinking
Self-esteem
Trauma
Sexual & Physical abuse
Burnout and stress
Parenting concerns
Life changes and decision-making
Bereavement and Loss
Relationship issues
